Probably the best W we could think of to kick this off, the OnlyDevs is officially back, and the first episode features Solana Breakout winners and Superteam India members Rishabh and Nitanshu from Encifher. If you haven't watched this already, you gotta tune in right now:

Speaking of tuning in, the Superdevs fellowship by Kirat officially commenced in July. So many eager faces, a lot of challenging material, and a breeding ground for the next batch of elite engineering talent on Solana.

The Superteam India TL remains wholesome as usual, with so many members sharing their Superteam lore from different timelines.

Multiple member wins from the past and present, all at once — we love to see it.

July also saw the first-ever Capture The Flag competition, a cybersecurity competition on Solana. Shoutout to Kunal, Bolt and Rishabh for pulling this off IRL. Can't wait for the next edition!

Developers ate and learned well in July, with multiple developer-related events happening almost every week. We had:

• @dubbel06 took a session on Bonsol and ZK on Solana

• The Encifher folks took another one on Cryptography on Solana

• Dhruvraj hosted two sessions on Solana Program Architecture and Alpenglow

The community members have asked us to keep these going, and you can bet your house that we definitely will.

And we're finally back to the point of the monthly newsletter where SendAI and all its umbrella teams take over the entire piece. Multiple huge Ws as usual:

• SendAI launched SendAI Raycast — Solana actions embedded in your command bar

• Arpit and the Send Arcade folks launched Vibegame — a drag and drop platform to deploy and launch onchain games

• Magicblock also hosted the Send Madness Week with Send Arcade, which included quests, tournaments, treasure hunts, and prizes

• Send Arcade launched the NFT collection for their game Lana Roads — each NFT is a playable character along with other perks

Here's the launch of Vibegame, which has taken Solana Twitter by storm. You gotta love it!

As always, shoutout to the entire team for constantly shipping across different domains — Yash, Aryan, Srinivasa, @semi_infiknight, MYSTIC, Arpit, Kanishq, Ray, Raunit and co. (please add your name if we missed you)

Mention constantly shipping and in comes Little Unusual.

They announced that their working on usuals.ai, and it absolutely exploded on X. The team has created some of the best content in crypto over the last 2-3 years, and it's only fitting that they're now building the tool to ship bangers using AI.

(intern has gotten exclusive access to the demo — you all are not ready!)

July also had some very sweet IRL action happening all across the board. Both Shipyards (BLR and Vadodara) had Locked-In Wednesdays and Shipping Saturdays, respectively.

A bunch of folks got together, worked all day, and then ended with a quiz and some pizza. Nothing to complain about at all.

We also got together with Pengu India and members had some fast-paced Karting action in BLR. According to credible sources, only Superteam India members ended up on the podium, and I am not surprised at all.

From the podium to SF, the Met Engine folks (Harsh, Neel and Vraj Desai) are cooking in SF. Breakout winners and the only team from India that has made to the Colosseum Accelerator — we can't wait for what they ship in the future.

We're also seeing an emergence of members embracing their creator arcs and becoming nCMOs of Solana. Rajnandani is leading the way with a three-part series on stablecoins — first video is out here. More to come!

Aditya Sharma has also completely embraced his role as nCMO in the Solana ecosystem, and he's on his way to becoming one of the best creators out there.

Ayush shipped Pinoc, a tool to scaffold Solana programs using Pinocchio. This is built on top of Chio by Arjun, who is also a Superteam member. You gotta love to see it.

We can go on forever, but here are some more notable wins from the last 4 weeks:

• Chaitanya Bajpai tweeted about creating a Solana study group and "Anchorpoint" is live today.

• Our very own chad Ray has joined our very own group of chads over at SendAI.

• Srinivasa shipped a Jito Devrel Agent, using (you guessed it) SendAI MCP.

• Prince went full-time on Solana by joining xFractal.

Community Contributions

If the #just-shipped-it channel keeps flowing, you know the chads have been shipping. Proof is in the pudding:

One of the most underrated teams in the ecosystem, the Superteam Earn boys ship faster than a lot of startups around. July was no different as they shipped a bunch of new updates, including:

First up, Colosseum announced the results of the Solana Breakout Hackathon, and India absolutely crushed it.

The community showed up with 231 submissions (it's highest ever), with six winners (highest ever) and five honourable mentions (highest ever).

A huge shoutout to:

• MetEngine, Encifher, and PayStream — all winning in the DeFi track;

• Aquanode winning the University Prize in the Infrastructure track;

• Lana Roads by Send Arcade came in 5th in the Gaming track.

• SoulBoard (Grantee and member project) took fourth place in the DePIN track.

• and shoutout to Umbra, Cleopetra, @realTrumpFun, Remlo, and Dollar Wallet for the honourable mentions.

And an even bigger shoutout to everyone (231 folks) who participated and submitted something. You are all in the arena, so even if you did not win on paper, you are all winners who are getting things done. You all are the reason why this ecosystem is so special, so go after it and keep shipping.

Special shoutout to MetEngine for becoming the only team from India to enter Colosseum's 3rd Accelerator cohort. Congratulations to Harsh, Shubh, Neel, Vraj, and team!

Apart from crushing it on the hackathon stage, Indian members were also spotted crushing it on International turf at the Solana Summit APAC in Da Nang.

• Sitesh presented Asgard and earning yields in a workshop

• Paarug also gave a workshop on X poasting (DM if you need access)

• Pratik from Superteam Earn spoke about earning, not buying your crypto!

• and Harsh gave a workshop on how to build on top of Sonic SVM

Kirat launched the Superdev Fellowship 2025 — a cohort for new developers to build the future on Solana.

Over 2200 people applied in the next few days, and after two rounds of screening (including a very interesting quiz), we now have a cohort who will spend the next few weeks learning Solana development by shipping real projects.

Congratulations to everyone who has made it — looking forward to seeing what you all build.

Speaking of shipping, this is the part where we dedicate a significant part of the wins section to the SendAI team:

• First up, the third wing (yet) of the SEND ecosystem is live: Send Mobile, which is their new Mobile Apps Studio

• Send Mobile also started its shipping arc with a bang by launching Pluto, a mobile wallet they vibecoded in a couple of weeks (???)

• Meanwhile, the second wing, Send Arcade keeps on winning — their game, Lana Roads won Magicblock's Real-Time Hackathon

• Send Arcade also launched a new game, Send Guys, which is obviously doing the rounds on Solana Twitter!

• And from SendAI, their Agent Kit now has access to OpenAI Agents SDK, integrated with Magic Eden, and has something special cooking with SendAI MCP.

It's incredible how the Send team continues to dominate the Wins section month after month — incredible cooking by Yash, Aryan, Srinivasa, Semi, MYSTIC, Arpit, Kanish and co (please add your name if we missed you)

Speaking of banger teams, Asgard launched their Public Beta a couple of weeks ago. God Mode for DeFi is very much alive and kicking!

De Charge

Busy month for our friends at De Charge again —Mohan delivered a lightning talk at PGP (Pretty Good Policy) hosted by Coinbase at USC. They were also present and leading conversations at the APAC Solana Summit in Da Nang, especially on DePIN Day.

GreenkWh

There's a lot of noise on Crypto Twitter but the GreenkWh team keeps shipping and growing their energy network at the grassroots level in India. Here's more on what they've been up to recently:

Cleopetra

The Cleopetra team (h/t Umang) was shipping in full flow at Superteam Singapore's Ignition Season 3, and also became the first TG bot to be fully audited.

MetEngine

If there's one team that had a banger month of June, it was MetEngine. They onboarded users on users on users, won in the Solana Breakout hackathon, and also became the only team from India to enter Colosseum's 3rd Accelerator cohort.

Encifher

Speaking of having a great June, our friends at Encifher crushed it last month as well. Launched on mainnet, won in the hackathon, growing users everyday. Upwards only!

Content Mafia

This is a section we have introduced while talking about wins — two teams that produce some of the highest quality of content across different geographies at unmatched speeds. Presenting the two GOATs in the content mafia of Superteam India:

Little Unusual

A team allergic to shipping slowly, Little Unusual was at its top-tier usual self, shipping the best content in the game (and also launching some pretty insane code). Here are some highlights:

And finally, the team literally has GOAT in its name. The Goatfish team shipped a ton of great content, but also shipped code and pushed the boundaries of event coverage like they always do.

• Took care of the entire Solana Summit APAC

Thoughts from the Frontier

Audiences Post, Communities Host

Bringing back an older thread to reiterate the importance of a community whose nodes are always actively engaging, attending, and hosting together.

There are profound differences in how participants of a community and an audience interact, broadly:

• an audience sits in rows but a community flows

• an audience hears one voice but a community makes noise

• an audience subscribes but a community vibes

• an audience has only silent lurkers but a community also has workers

• an audience just retweets but a community also meets and greets

• an audience just views but a community also brews

• an audience just posts but a community also hosts

The default way for a Superteam member to interact with their community is via Discord. And while these are likely some of the highest signal conversations in all of crypto, they’re just the tip of the Superteam iceberg.

The optimal way to participate in Superteam is to use that signal & trust to find your niche interest and the people you can collaborate with to create weekend projects, products, or companies around it. Those who do it right will find themselves in more group chats than they can count, spontaneously joining Zoom calls and taking cabs/trains/planes to meet their internet friends.

The pipeline from strangers to co-founders/roommates is not intuitive or obvious, but it happens through some combination of shared interests, complementary skills & common goals discovered through repeated organic interactions. This has played out successfully multiple times in different forms over the last three years of Superteam's existence. Strangers who became friends with each other on Discord are now flatmates, co-founders, and colleagues.

So if you're a new member in the Superteam discord (or any other community), your best bet to find people you will resonate with is to double down on topics you are genuinely curious about & constructively engage with the community.

With this in mind, events now become an active exercise to engage with other producers, instead of broadcasting to a bunch of consumers. These can take the form of (non-exhaustive list):

1. Virtual Events: Host up-skilling sessions, flow co-working hours, or trivia/game nights.

   

2. Education & Workshops: Host a technical workshop or seminar at your local university/blockchain club.

3. Outreach & onboarding: Host a meetup over coffee, pizza, or an outdoor activity with people in your city or neighbourhood.

The Solana Renaissance Hackathon

The Solana global hackathon starts on 4th March and submissions are due by 8th April. Teams have 5 weeks to build a prototype, test it with customers and perfect their pitch.

Key points to note

1. Over $500K in cash prizes split across 6 prize tracks — Consumer, Payments & DeFi, DePIN, Infra, DAOs and gaming.

2. There are also prizes for public goods, climate focused projects and university teams as part of the total pool.

3. In addition to this there will be other prize tracks from Ecosystem teams like DRiP, Okto, Reclaim, etc. These will be listed on Superteam Earn, so keep an eye out for the announcement on their Twitter.

Proto had originally planned to find their first 1000 users closer to home in Mumbai & Bengaluru before taking on “international expansion” — but members from SuperteamNG found the app on Twitter and chose to start mapping right away. A great example of the GTM uniquely enabled by a global network of local communities.

It’s always great to see members land gigs, jobs or take leadership positions in the wider ecosystem. Kash is leading a working group for Jupiter and running their weekly community calls. Kunal has joined Preternatural AI, a startup building consumer AI/ML infra. Shek and Abbas have joined Builders Tribe as mentors. Dhrumil featured on the next billions podcast.

Anoushk, a 19 yr old member, has landed a role as a Senior protocol engineer at Rome. Interestingly, a year ago he was frustrated to see most open roles only for “senior” engineers with 5+ yrs of experience, but he channeled that energy into Tinydancer and proved his caliber at working side by side with some of the best Solana core devs — and has come out stronger for it.

The cherry on top is that he also helped his friend Aniket join Rome, and Tinydancer just received $10K in public goods funding from Dora Hacks and continues to live on as an open source project.

Next we’ve got members crushing hackathons, competitions and bounties across the board. Tushar and the Little Unusual team won the video category of Tensor creator competition. Harsh and Vraj made it to top 7 at the ETH Global Circuit Breaker hackathon by building Myriad, a DAO tooling frontend on frames. They also won 2nd place in the Frames hackathon by FBI for building an in-feed tipping utility.

Speaking of FBI, Farcaster Builders India is a community founded by longtime Superteam member Saumya, Rahul and many others focused on supporting founders and developers who are building on the Farcaster network. In a short span of time they’ve organised a weekend hackathon, sent out some agents in the field and won a grant from PurpleDAO to further their objective. We’re incredibly bullish on the distribution and monetization that frames can unlock for Solana projects and help grow the Farcaster network — but more on that later in this post.

While we’re on the topic of Farcaster, member Aryan along with Cyber Shakti and other members of Lenspost shipped Quack, a Solana client for Farcaster. They actually built this even before the official Solana integration went live and ended up getting featured on Degen News.

Lenspost also airdropped early access to their NFT remixer product to everyone who attended the Feb Ecosystem Call and claimed a POAP.

Friends of Superteam, StockpileLabs, created a custom badge to verify Superteam members so that they can vote in the distribution of DecentraGrants. Props to member Aadil for helping enable this.

Thoughts from the Frontier: Frames

Farcaster recently announced Frames and completed their integration with Solana. And while these are technically unrelated there is a lot that you can do with frames using Solana.

Frames basically allow you to embed mini-apps within a social feed, and this is especially powerful when that feed has lots of users and the frames can complete transactions. Warpcast has ~10K users who likely own and transact in crypto — and this is it will prove to be an important distribution channel for developers, creators and apps.

We’ll kick things off by talking about a humble side project that did over $500K in volume. Kanishq & Yash shipped a single link that anyone can share with friends looking to bridge to and from Solana — the rest is history.

You can read the full story here but as Joel put it — they ended up generating significant value by simply building a working product and employing good SEO.

A lot has been said about the impact of web3 games but we’re still waiting for the breakout apps. Initiatives like the Solana Speedrun Game Jam go a long way in nurturing organic bottoms up developer activity and we’re thrilled to see Abhineet, Elio & Memxor represent India on the podium in the recently concluded 2nd edition.

The event, organised by LamportDAO & Magicblock, saw 300+ registrations and 35 final games submitted – this is impressive when you consider that participants had only 5 days to build their games from scratch.  

The kind of numbers we like to see in the bull market are projects crushing their metrics and celebrating new milestones.

Two community born projects – Cubik & Little Unusual – celebrate their one year anniversary. Both projects were founded by members who met each other within Superteam — Cubik by Irffan & Dhruv; Little Unusual by Tushar and Aditya. Both teams have persisted through the bear. We’re incredibly excited to see them expand their team and footprint through the new market cycle.

Now for dReader & our very own Josip Joshi – they’ve crossed 3K verified users on their app across the Saga dApp store and Android Play Store while also booking over $20K in revenue. They’ve secured grant funding from Metaplex & Solana Labs. And while Josip may soon be leading [redacted] he’ll always remain a part of the Superteam India family. 

Its bot szn and member Umang has thrown his hat in the ring. Truly a Swiss army knife founder, he’s gone from building a No-code NFT tool to a Payments SaaS product to a casual game and now an NFT trading bot. The early preview gained lots of attention from ecosystem OGs like Toly, Joe McCann, Degen Poet, Metaplex, etc. 

OG member Abbas is now leading community for Avax in India. He was previously Bounty Sheriff for Superteam, organised the nationwide Super meet series, ran community efforts at venture fund Hashedem and contributed to IBW.  

Yash A has joined Superteam as a researcher and just shipped 7 ideas you can build on Wormhole and also running the Superteam prize track for the Solana scribe hackathon. If you’re participating you should definitely reach out to him, there’s a curated TG group, office hours – the works. 

And, our very own Guru Dev Shek has joined the Superteam India core team to drive all things technical education and founder support. If you’re a young developer looking for guidance or a founder looking to navigate Solana tech – would highly recommend reaching out to him.

4. Sabir made a contribution to anchor that helps pick the correct Solana version & Wilfred shipped Solana Scripts, a bundle of misc utilities to help developers.

5. Suhas contributed to Solathon – a python SDK for Solana development. This was built and open sourced by a previous grantee and it is great to see people from the community pick these up and improve them. 

6. And finally, we all have to start somewhere – Shivank built his first dApp on Solana, a simple program that lets you send payments to any Solana address.

1. Harsh, who’s recently joined the Wormhole Fellowship, contributed to their docs by fixing some outdated code snippets.

Solana Foundation & CoinDCX India Grants

Superteam now supports the Solana Foundation & CoinDCX Grant program. Among other things, we recommend applicants with high community reputation scores. These are grants designed to empower the Indian web3 developer ecosystem with an exclusive focus on builders engaged in the Solana ecosystem and to advance the adoption of public blockchains in India. Anyone with an idea or proof of work is welcome to apply and receive a funding decision for a $1 - $15K grant.

Areas of focus include: 

1. Developer Tooling: Create tools, programs and hacks making it easier and faster for engineers to build the next generation of apps on Solana.

2. Mobile: Build Android apps on Solana that can go from 0 to 10K users & ideally help drive new user adoption. Grantees will get priority access to the Okto team & product suite including their embedded wallet.

3. Tokenization & RWA: Tokenize & integrate digital assets into your business. Grantees will get priority access to the Okto team & product suite to generate a wallet easily within their applications & can leverage CoinDCX’s pre-existing KYC infrastructure to make both real world and crypto-native assets accessible to their users.

4. Loyalty & Creator monetization: Brands, creators & products can distribute digital collectibles at scale using Solana cNFTs (e.g. community badges, loyalty, in-game assets)

5. Cause-driven building: We’re also looking to fund projects and research around using crypto to create a more inclusive financial system, and innovative solutions towards climate change.

6. Promote Decentralization: Create developer tooling, media, content, and community projects focussed on promoting and bringing more decentralization to Solana as well as the world at large.

7. Research: Create & distribute quality content about the Solana ecosystem. Including but not limited to:

January was the first time we tested the format where local communities could come together and watch the Ecosystem Call IRL. Local communities came together in 50+ cities all over the world to celebrate wins of the month, meet their online friends or make new ones & get project alpha along with some exclusive earning opportunities.

Thoughts from the Frontier: Mobile

2024 is the year we’ll see mobile apps on Solana take off.

The selling out of the Solana Saga thanks to the BONK giveaway has created the momentum we needed to achieve escape velocity on mobile. To dismiss that as airdropping farming is naive at best but disingenuous at worst.

Here’s what happened since the Saga sold out

1. Over 15K genesis tokens have been activated.

2. Teams lined up to offers perks, airdrops and giveaways to genesis pass holders.

3. The community self-organised to form the SagaDAO and help teams more effectively target Solana mobile users.

4. Tools like Dust by Underdog are seeing significant traction from teams that want to directly airdrop to genesis holders.

5. The Chapter 2 device booked 30K pre-orders within 30 hours of opening up.

6. India is on the pre-order list and Superteam members are getting in on the action.

7. The Solana mobile team announced a pre-order token that allows brands, protocols and apps to target their airdrops and marketing campaigns.

8. Our bounty for a technical deep dive for building mobile apps on Solana got 28 submissions! This is probably the highest ever for a long form writing bounty.

9. The DRiP team teased that Saga users get early access to their Android app.

The default way for a Superteam member to interact with their community is via a gated Discord. And while these are likely some of the highest signal conversations in all of crypto, they’re just the tip of the Superteam iceberg. 

The optimal way to participate in Superteam is to use that signal & trust to find your niche interest and the people you can collaborate with to create weekend projects, products or companies around it. 

Those who do it right will find themselves in more group chats than they can count, spontaneously joining zoom calls and taking cabs/trains/planes to meet their internet friends.  

All of this is to say that if the only way you’re interacting with other Superteam members is via the official discord – you’re missing out.

The journey from joining a Discord to starting a company with total strangers you’ve met there isn’t apparent or intuitive, but it is possible. 

It happens through some combination of shared interests, complementary skills & common goals discovered through repeated organic interactions. We know this because it has happened multiple times within Superteam over the past 2 years. 

Here are three such stories presented in no particular order:

#1 Shek, Founder, Gum & Resident Guru Dev 

Shek talks about how he found both the inspiration and early hires for his startup, Gum, within Superteam…

“ I started spending more time in the Discord, writing technical deep dives, hosting office hours and source surfing Solana. I remember Kunal, ddude and Kirat coming with the technical challenges/roadblocks they were facing with their projects. 

Though, I was spending a lot of time on discord, I hadn't taken web3 seriously yet, this changed when I visited Dubai Hacker House, built a quick prototype of Wordcel and presented it. Meeting the community members in person and seeing the ecosystem alive made me realize that web3 could be something. 

Next thing you know, Wordcel won the first place in Riptide, I hired Kunal, Paarug and ddude (Vijay) in a blink and I had made the best trade of my life, web2 for web3. ”

#2 Tushar, Co-Founder, Little Unusual

Tushar shares the story of how he & his co-founder Aditya went from doing a few freelance gigs together to starting Little Unusual, their product studio.  

“Back in January 2023, on a Discord channel, a conversation between two artists ignited a spark of a unique idea that would later become something truly unusual. Many Zoom calls and boring logistics later, Little Unusual was born.

Almost one year later, we’re an intimate team of 5 core members and have a bunch of visual enthusiasts just like us who step in to assist in different projects.”

#3 Ujjwal & Bolt, Co-Founders, Stellar Sol

Ujjwal & Bolt talk about how they met in the Superteam Discord and started Stellar Sol, a hackathon winning project that lets you pay on Amazon & Flipkart using Solana USDC. You can watch their story from this timestamped link or catch the entire documentary below.

So, how many repeated organic interactions is it going to take? If it wasn’t obvious from the framing of that question, let us re-emphasise that you can’t “network” or “game” your way to this. There’s no formula or guarantee of success. It has to be genuine. 

Your best bet is to double down on topics you are genuinely curious about & constructively engage with the community.

Events for Producers, Not Consumers 

The key is to attend or create events where you can contribute, not just consume. This could be as a host/moderator, a practitioner or with earnest questions. And if you’re not sure which events you can contribute to, attend as many as you can until you find out.  

The MVP equivalent for an event is 3 or more people coming together, over Zoom or IRL, to talk and not just listen.

Some ideas to help you get started:

Virtual Events

Three types of events that have worked well so far:

1. Skill or Interest Based: Take a skill (design, writing, growth, dev, etc) or an interest area ( RWA, DePIN, Mobile, etc) and pick from a range of formats including up-skilling sessions, weekly roundups, product breakdowns, etc. 

2. Flow co-working hours: If you spend long hours working in isolation, you can now spin up your own co-working space on Zoom. 

   All you need is a zoom room with a few other people who are looking to get work done. Once you’re on the call, everyone should announce their goals at the start, keep their video on & share progress at the end. 

   Counterintuitively, this is probably the most important type of event to gate access to. In my experience it works best with 4-6 people who are actually looking to get work done. Too few and it’s an awkward zoom call, too many and you’ll spend more time doing intros & updates than working.   

3. Gaming & Trivia: This one’s easy, get together with members for a game of chess, poker, trivia, etc.  

Education & Workshops 

This is ideal for anyone who is interested in conducting technical workshops related to Solana, Anchor, Rust, or broadly getting started in crypto as a developer to blockchain clubs in Universities. 

A few best practices to set you up for success:

1. Select universities with active computer science or engineering departments that have lots of students with active interest or curiosity about crypto.

2. Have a clear format and topic for the talk. Some kinds of workshops you can conduct are:

   1. Intro to crypto, web3, and getting started with web3js & Rust

   2. Intro to Rust and Solana development

   3. Specific topic overview: Bitcoin, cNFTs, DeFi, DePIN, etc.

   4. Hands on Solana Dev Workshop

3. Create presentation slides or educational materials to accompany your talk. 

4. Collaborate with the university's crypto or blockchain club to promote the event to students and faculty members. 

5. You may also choose to use Solanasync, by Superteam member Bolt, that you may use to help manage attendees, quizzes & POAPs.  

You can apply to the Superteam Education Fund to get up to $200 in funding for your workshop. 

Outreach & Onboarding

Host a meet up over coffee or pizza or an outdoor activity with people in your city or neighbourhood. Community dinners, meet-ups, experiences, weekend hackathons, etc. are all fair game. 

You could plan these as one-offs to build on existing momentum (e.g. a coffee catch up to talk about Chapter 2 ) or a recurring feature (e.g. Saturday morning walks) or adjacent to bigger events such as Solana Hacker houses, Breakpoint — including those from other ecosystems like ETHGlobal, Jump Pit, etc. — that congregate interested folks in one place.

During the event, optimise for helping your guests get to know each other by ensuring proper introductions, room and ambience for conversation and a post event TG/WhatsApp group. 

If you’re doing anything to bring the community closer together and onboard those on the sidelines into crypto, feel free to apply to the Pizza Fund. Currently, only Superteam members can be hosts but anyone can attend.

IRL Ecosystem Call

January was the first time we tested the format where local communities could come together and watch the Ecosystem Call IRL. Local communities came together in 50+ cities all over the world to celebrate wins of the month, meet their online friends or make new ones & get project alpha along with some exclusive earning opportunities. 

Check out the recap video from India where community members across 10 cities stepped up at a few days notice to host their local ecosystem. Hosting these events is a great way to start off because you can build your programming and distribution off of the momentum generated by these calls instead of starting from scratch. 

Chris will likely publish a detailed hosting guide that you can refer to. At the very least you want to ensure that you have a venue with a dedicated space, good lighting, a screen & sound system, no background noise and fast internet to live stream the call.

Planning & Logistics

This will vary depending on the type of event but here are some broad guidelines:

1. Where? Virtual events are best hosted over your choice of video conferencing platform, e.g. Zoom, Google Meet, Discord, etc. 

   For IRL events you can choose a coffee shop, boardroom, co-working space, mini-theatre etc. Think about what’s important for your specific event, e.g. a watch party needs a very different setting than a roundtable. Err on the side of caution when thinking of organizing a “party”, especially a relatively large one. People could abuse free-flowing alcohol and might create a scene.

2. Who? Optimize for quality not quantity. It’s acceptable & encouraged to limit attendance to people who have the requisite skills or context.

   Crypto meet-ups have a bad rep of being wasteful; any event labeled as a “meetup” attracts a fair amount of low-intent people. This ruins the experience of high-value people, therefore tarnishing the name of the community.  For small IRL events with limited capacity, it’s best to get personal confirmations over DM from your guests. 

3. How? Just conceptualise & submit your event via the Superteam page on River. Once your event is approved, drop a message on the #events channel in the Discord. Feel free to tag the relevant skill roles but don’t spam fellow members. You can also DM Srijani to get your event spotlighted in the weekly comm call. 

4. Community Projects. Try and involve your local Superteam/Solana projects in the process of hosting the meet-up. This could be as simple as giving them a spotlight to showcase their product & ask the community for feedback and other help. This experience will be a boon to these projects, who are always looking for early users and product feedback. Doing this will help build trust and value within the community, while also giving the attendees a taste of using crypto in the real world. 

5. Free Attendance NFT. This is mostly optional but encouraged, as it’s a great way to seed a sense of belonging, re-target your attendees in a crypto native way & makes everyone feel good. Check out tools like Underdog or TipLink if you want to do this. 

Events as a Proposal 

River is a community centric events platform, currently in beta, that we used to organise the IRL Ecosystem calls, you can check out the Superteam page here.  

It all started when Rae & Ryan accidentally started All In Meetups around Episode 100 of the podcast and felt both the joy & pains of organising meet ups in 24 cities around the world. Your typical events software assumes that you already have a host & venue locked-in and it is designed to help that host manage attendees, check-ins, reminders, payments, etc. That breaks here because while podcasts like All-In have a global audience there’s no designated host per city or list of official cities– you need to community source both of those things.   

River converts events into proposals (h/t Chris) such that anyone from a global core team or local community can simply create an event they wish would happen and observe how many people sign up to attend or step up to host. Once the community admin approves someone as a host they get full control of the event and access to resources like River’s hosting guide , Slack group, etc. 

This isn’t just about a product feature but about turning the idea of an event inside out. Ironically, this “web2” platform decentralises meet ups more than any crypto product ever has. 

Specifically, members in productive communities like Superteam can use River to send a Bat-Signal to fellow members to gather around a specific topic, time and venue. It may not seem like it yet but this is a Delta 4 improvement over the current alternatives, which is sending a message in the Discord/TG asking “is someone interested in…?” 

So if you’re a Superteam member…don’t just post, apply to host.

Developer Ecosystem Metrics

The report highlights the following key ecosystem metrics:

• There were at least 2500 - 3000 monthly active developers on Solana through 2023. The methodology for measuring this is publicly documented here.

• Developer retention grew from ~30% to over 50%. A developer is defined as retained if they have made at least one commit in 3 consecutive months after starting.

• ~52% of developers have 3+ years of dev experience. This is measured by surveying over 1000 Hacker House participants from across the globe.

• With each hackathon, the number of project submissions has increased. The most recent hackathon, Solana Hyperdrive, had more than 900 submissions. Hackathon submissions is a top indicator for developer activity growth.

Community Sourced DevList

While it’s great to have official stats from the foundation, it’s even better to have public goods shipped by the community which take the ecosystem forward.

The team at Solfate has shipped a public Solana Dev List. Anyone can connect their Solana Wallet, GitHub & Twitter account and claim a free & non-transferrable member NFT to become a part of the list.

This is a valuable airdrop list for projects looking to engage the Solana developer community. We wrote more about this in a previous essay — that airdrops should be targeted to producers & contributors, and not just consumers.

Getting Started

Solana is designed to get out of the way. It does this by providing a fast, cheap & predictable execution layer while retaining global state.

Developers who build on Solana will find an abundance of content, tooling and demand to help them succeed.

• Content: You can start with the official docs, some program examples or the community sourced Cookbook. If you prefer a more structured approach you’ll find a buffet of self-serve courses or instructor led programs to choose from.

• Tooling: It’s not just about Rust or smart contracts, there’s a wide range of SDKs & UI frameworks you can work with to build on Solana.

• Demand: There were 41 new jobs added to jobs.solana.com in Dec alone. You can also find a range of bounties, gigs and projects on Superteam Earn.

Enterprise. The team at Helius Labs has prepared this comprehensive guide for enterprises that are looking to integrate a blockchain for their products & services.

It talks about the key attributes of Solana — speed, cost, predictability, energy efficiency, decentralization & state compression — and how they influenced companies like Visa, blockchain projects like Helium & even EVM solutions like Eclipse to build on Solana.

Superteam Earn

Superteam Earn has crossed 1,500 verified talent profiles. Here are some feature updates from last month:

• Email notifications — including new bounty-added notifications for talent, weekly live bounty round-ups for talent, sponsor email notifications, etc.

• Improved mobile experience.

• UI / UX improvements across the site such as bounty stage filters, a carousel for recent earners, bounty nudges, Point of Contact sections for bounties, etc.

SpedX

SpedX is an advanced trading platform integrating a CLOB and an AMM. It utilizes the Hxro Network to enhance liquidity and optimize trading efficiency.

SpedX took part in the OPOS hackathon and is gearing up to unveil a refreshed UI. They're also preparing a special [redacted] for their early backers. For the most recent updates, visit X, and join Discord to engage with the SpedX community.

PurplePay

Co-founded by early Superteam member Saumya, Purple Pay is building a compliant web3 ecosystem by linking KYC/KYB records to wallets, getting them verified by compliance providers, creating ZK proofs of it, and putting them on-chain for web3 dApps to access.

PurpleID has successfully completed its first phase, focusing on cross-chain KYC verification and the issuance of verified credentials. They are currently beta-testing Purple Pay, which facilitates seamless transitions between fiat and crypto transactions. Other than this, they developed and released comprehensive documentation for merchant use.

They’ve secured three new clients:

• A brand loyalty platform from Turkey.

• A crypto commerce entity from Australia.

• ZoHouse in Bangalore.

Fetcch

Fetcch offers a "Pull Payments Layer" for streamlined blockchain transactions, allowing receivers to initiate payments while senders retain final approval.

The team launched the alpha version, a payments application based on Fetcch infrastructure, deployed relayers for Wormhole, and introduced a new website. If you want to add Pull payments to your app, book time with the team here.

Solana x Superteam Campus Connect

Campus Connect is a series of meetups for students to get into the world of Web3 and understand the basics of Solana.

Cubik has successfully completed its first-ever "Dev Tooling Grants Round," which ran from June 23rd to July 6th. Initially backed by Superteam with $5K, the matching pool grew to over $20K, thanks to contributions from the Solana Foundation and Symmetry.

This round funded 22 diverse projects, spanning dev tooling, infrastructure, payments, DeFi, and consumer products. With a total of $6.98K donated across 663 contributions, this round was a resounding success.

Cubik is a quadratic funding platform for anyone building public goods (code or content) on Solana.

The team launched, what they thought was a closed beta round with $5K in grants for developer tooling. But the product resonated so deeply with the community that they ended up taking over Solana Twitter on launch day.

As a result, their pool grew from the initial $5K (sponsored by Superteam) to $20K with Symmetry & the Solana Foundation joining in. They’re also partnering with Magicblock to distribute prizes for the Speedrun Game Jam. In a testament to the power of Solana, there were more donors on Cubik than Gitcoin on June 26.

Grizzlython was a month-long hackathon by the Solana Foundation, partnering with multiple projects in the Solana ecosystem. The hackathon commenced on March 14 with 10,000 participants from 80 nations and a total of 800 submissions.

Gum

A decentralized social media protocol on Solana by the Wordcel team. Using Gum, developers can enable users to import their existing social stack in-app and build native experiences on top of it.

The team launched ‘Session keys’ along with multiple video tutorials to help improve DX (developer experience). Session keys make it possible for users to perform actions without needing to approve a transaction from their wallet every single time.

Tinydancer is a light client for Solana which ensures the security of the network in case there is a supermajority attack.

Here’s a powerful vision statement from their whitepaper - “Anyone should be able to spin up a diet client on a mobile device and verify the validity of their transaction and state without requiring a full node or having to trust the supermajority.”

The team, after winning a barrage of prizes at the Sandstorm hackathon, is now preparing for a launch in April with revamped UX, design, and overall security.

SeaSurf 🌊

Seasurf is a simple Solana Block Explorer, which would help to track and analyze different transactions in one place.

The team implemented a transaction explorer and an account explorer that would help users navigate and read transactions easily. Along with this, the team is incorporating a bunch of new features that are [redacted]. Stay tuned!

Buildstation 🖥️

Buildstation is a developer-guidance program for teams participating in Solana Grizzlython. It will take place in person on Saturdays and remotely through Discord & Telegram.

DAOs & Network State Track by Balaji

Superteam is a network of individuals and companies building products in the Solana ecosystem. Simply put, it is a gated discord server for those who satisfy the membership criteria. There’s no treasury, take-rate/commissions or a token sale. From its inception, Superteam has chosen to be a collective of sovereigns over a sovereign collective. All members may participate as much as or as little as they wish, including the core team. Any revenue generated is captured by the individual members or teams that self-organise and win a bounty, secure a grant or venture funding for their ideas. The community is the product. And members have exclusive access to the product.

Superteam is currently live in India, Vietnam, Turkey & Germany.

Up from $1.05 Million last month, this is the North star metric for Superteam. It represents the value created for & by community members who found earning opportunities through Superteam.

Driving this number is a community of 164 members & 200 contributors. A growing talent network with 2475+ registered people looking for opportunities in web3. And 50+ partner projects who’ve tapped into this talent pool.

Superteam @ Sandstorm 🌪️

With 34 submissions, Superteam members contributed to 15% of all entries to the recently concluded Sandstorm hackathon.

CandyPay 🍭

The team is firing on multiple cylinders, onboarding Shadow drive & Solana Hacker Houses as customers to their merchant checkout solution while also releasing a brand new product, Caramel, to help developers monetise their code.

Superteam Earn 💰

Since launching talent profiles in December, 150+ contributors have signed up and started building their on-chain reputation. Invoices worth more than $13,000 have been issued for work that was discovered, completed and paid for through Superteam Earn.

The team continues building towards their mission of aggregating all earning opportunities on Solana. In January they shipped saved drafts to improve the sponsor listing flow and email notifications to ensure talent never misses an opportunity.

StellarSol 🪐

They continue to add new markets with singular focus, Italy & UK being the most recent ones. You can now shop on Flipkart and Amazon US, UK,Canada, Germany, and Italy with USDC via the StellarSol extension. Learn more about them via their freshly minted website.

Superteam Build 💡

Launched in December, this is an idea bank for the upcoming hackathon and broader inspiration to anyone hungry for ideas on what to build. As a bonus, they’ve also shipped a list of all the active investors in the Solana ecosystem to help you raise capital for the idea you select.

Buildstation India

While Superteam Buildstations are underway globally, India's own Buildstations are coming very soon!

ICYMI, Buildstation is an IRL+remote developer-guidance programme for those participating in the upcoming Solana Global Hackathon.

The Indian edition is going to take place in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore, and remotely for folks that cannot join IRL. Registrations for Buildstation India opening very soon!

1. We started the year with a community GDP of $100k.

   5. FitSol: Encourage folks to remain fit through fitness challenges on Solana.

   6. Bounty Bot: Organizes the Web3 bounty ecosystem, in a transparent way

   7. Locus: A Web3 community collaboration/ project management tool.

   8. CoinPe: Enabling users to use USDC to make UPI payments in India.

2. We announced FTX Superteam, an experiment to combine capital & community creating a unique crypto-native accelerator.

3. An eye-watering total of 14 grants and bounties were awarded, including Metapass, De Plan, a Bounty Bot & an Instagram post masquerading as an essay about working remotely in crypto.

4. Kash published a timeless essay on working in web3.

5. Oh, and community GDP cruised past $200k
